JewelGirls, an economic empowerment and art therapy program for adolescent girl survivors of human trafficking, sexual violence, and street life.

JewelGirlz Serbia!

FAIR Fund, the Center for Youth Integration (Belgrade, Serbia), and the anti-trafficking shelter, ATINA have recently launched JewelGirls Serbia to teach 21 former street and trafficked girls living in and around Belgrade to create, market, and sell high quality jewelry. Each girl has a chance for a healthier, safer, and happier life free of violence and exploitation. JewelGirls has been supported byBeadazzled (a D.C. bead store), the generous donations of many U.S. women, and the Women's Reconstruction Fund. The money that the girls earn from these sales will go directly to providing the JewelGirlz with a shared apartment, health care, clothing, and basic necessities. For many young girls in the region, JewelGirlz provides one of the few existing safe spaces, and helps them to develop a much-needed sense of personal self worth and survival.

By training and supporting girls at risk in the art of jewelry making, FAIR Fund, Ten, local partners, and Beadazzled are working together to bring young women an authentic opportunity to exit violent situations while taking a creative role in bettering their lives and communities.
